Security
As in all Edmonton Public Schools, please be aware that along with your child's academic progress, the security and well being of your children, staff, and the community is very important. We work at keeping the school and area safe for everyone and request your cooperation in some important areas. It is very important to sign your children in and out of school during the school day even at lunch hour. As your child's primary caregiver during the day, we need to be aware of where children are. As an example students should not be meeting their parents outside to pick up lunches or items being dropped off. Please take the time to park legally and enter the school through the front door and leave these items for your children in the office. Most doors are locked at Princeton during the school day once students are inside. Front doors are locked only in an emergency or where we believe an adult such as the school Administrative Assistant is not able to be in the office. There is a bell at the front door that can be used as needed. Please do not be offended if we stop you and ask if we may help. As we may not know all caregivers, parents, or guardians we want to ensure that you are assisted and that the school is secure. We usually ask brothers or sisters arriving to pick up the students to wait at the front door. While we rarely need to do so, please be aware that the school reserves the important right to ask individuals to leave the school should they, in the opinion of the administrators, present a risk or potential risk to students, staff, or others that may be at Princeton School. Please do not hesitate to contact the principal should you need more information about school security and our efforts for your children.
Supervision
Playground supervision is provided for a fifteen minute period before morning and afternoon sessions, as well as during recess periods. For safety reasons we ask that students arrive no earlier than 8:15 am and 12:10 pm. Staff who are in the school at other times will always do what they can to help children but we cannot be responsible for children on the playground before those times. Students are asked to remain outside until the bell rings, but may enter the school at any time during an emergency.
Supervision of children as they move to and from school is a shared responsibility between home and school. If your child experiences any difficulties in this area, please contact the school so that we can work with you in solving the problem. For their own safety, children are asked to go directly home at dismissal times. Students may not play in the park after school without supervision. They may return to play after they have checked in at home.
